I
have been an executive coach at Eckerd College’s Leadership
Development Institute for 16 years. In that position, I have had
the opportunity to provide feedback and coaching to managers from
the private and public sectors at all levels – first line
supervisors to CEO’s.
For
the last 20 years, I have been a practicing psychotherapist in
Pinellas County. One of the similarities between coach and therapist
is the ability to build a professional relationship with the client.
My training as a therapist enhances the skills needed to be a
competent coach since both require one to be able to understand
other’s perspectives and relate to people and their situations
in a non judgmental way.
Coaching can help:
- Identify and improve problems in relationships with bosses, peers, and direct reports.
- Improve job effectiveness
- Achieve work and life balance
- Develop staff
- Prepare for a future job or career move
- Set goals for larger work desires and personal agendas
